Recreational Trail System
The park system presently has three trails that we hope one day will be all linked together providing social, recreational and economic benefits to the community.
Fort Dodge Nature Trail (3 miles)
Begins at Williams Drive at Snell-Crawford park entrance and leads northeast to the city limits and ends at Highway D-14. The nature trail is good for walking, biking, jogging, and cross-country skiing. The trail is closed to motorized vehicles.
Soldier Creek Nature Trail (2 miles)
Begins at Williams Drive and leads southwest to North 3rd Street bridge extending to Central Avenue. The trail is 10 feet wide and all asphalted. Good for walking, biking, rollerblading and skateboarding. The trail is closed to motorized vehicles.
Phinney Park Trail (1 mile)
Begins at Phinney Park entrance and leads south along the Des Moines River to Avenue C hill. The trail is 10 feet wide and all asphalt. Good for walking, biking, rollerblading and skateboarding. The trail is closed to motorized vehicles.
