Park View Neighborhood continues to undergo a major renaissance with the assistance of state and federal grants. The City of Fort Dodge has purchased and demolished many properties that had deteriorated beyond repair and has been selling the vacant lots to individuals and developers committed to building quality affordable housing. To date thrity-three new homes have been completed in the neighborhood and three additional homes are in various stages of construction.
The City offers tax abatement for individuals interested in building or purchasing new homes in the Park View Neighborhood.
ENTERPRISE ZONE
The Park View Neighborhood is located within the boundaries of Webster County's only certified Enterprise Zone. A developer who constructs or rehabilitates at least four single-family homes or at least one multi-family building containing three or more units within the Enterprise Zone is eligible for a refund of all sales, service and use taxes and a 10% state tax credit. TAX ABATEMENT
All qualified real estate is eligible to receive an exemption from taxation on the actual value added by the new dwelling. Two options are available:

Sliding scale for a period of 10 years, ranging from an 80% exemption in year one to a 20% exemption in year 10, or
-
100% exemption for a period of five years.
To apply for this tax abatement, an Urban Revitalization Tax Abatement Application must be submitted and approved by the City Council.
LOCATION
Located directly south of Fareway grocery store and west of the post office, Oak Hill Historic District, Blanden Memorial Art Museum, and Fair Oaks Middle School, the area is inviting for households of all ages. Numerous retailers, service providers, restaurants, and governmental offices located in the nearby central business district are within easy walking distance.
