Okay, we get it – you've been begging, pleading, and stalking our Facebook page, waiting for Junk Days to return, and the wait is finally OVER!
Starting immediately, you can once again schedule bulk pick-up on your garbage day. That couch you've been lovingly avoiding? The mattress you've been hoping will disappear? Yep, we're taking it all – as long as it's junk (and not your entire garage, sorry). COLLECTION BEGINS MONDAY, MAY 19, 2025
Here's how it works:
1 Text "JUNK" to (515) 408-9888
2 Follow the prompts, get your pick-up scheduled
3 Have your items out by 5 AM (but don't go putting it all out a week early, okay?)
NO EXCEPTIONS on what we won t take: Garbage bags, yard waste, hazardous materials, concrete – you know the drill.

Beginning tomorrow, Tuesday, May 13, 2025, the lane closure on N 29th St by Target will flip to the other side. The road will be open to southbound traffic only. Please use alternate routes if possible.
LANE & ROAD CLOSURES: Kenyon Rd from Ave C to S 8th St
The Iowa DOT will be performing bridge deck repairs, requiring the following closures.
Weather permitting, beginning Monday, May 5th, 2025, until November 2025, Kenyon Rd will be reduced to one lane traffic in each direction across the bridges between Ave C to S 8th St. Northeast bound traffic will be shifted to the opposite side of Kenyon Rd to be head-to-head with the southwest bound traffic on the new bridges. Additionally, S 8th St at Kenyon Rd will be closed to allow for this shift. The intersection at Ave C will remain open. Motorists are urged to use an alternate route. Please be alert, reduce speed, and use caution near this area.

LANE CLOSURES - 5th Ave S & S 32nd St
Weather permitting, beginning Monday, May 5th, 2025, for approximately 1 month, water main construction will impact traffic at the intersection of 5th Ave S & S 32nd St. Beginning Monday, the right lane of eastbound traffic on 5th Ave S will be closed along with the left turn lane for northbound traffic on S 32nd St. This will allow Rasch Construction to complete the first phase of work in the intersection. Once this phase is complete, additional closures will be needed on the north side of the intersection to complete a connection to the existing water main within 5th Ave S. Additional updates will be provided as traffic control changes. Motorists are urged to use an alternate route. Please be alert, reduce speed, and use caution near this area.
