Winter Family Reading Program has begun at the Fort Dodge Public Library!
While summer reading programs for children at libraries have long been popular, the concept of the family program is a new one. Studies have shown that children read better if they are able to observe their parents reading. Reading is a great way to spend time together as a family while encouraging conversation, developing shared interests, and becoming a literacy role model for your children.
This is the second time the Fort Dodge Women's Club has sponsored the Winter Family Reading Program. The club holds an annual Waffle Breakfast each spring and donates the proceeds to the library to hold this special program. Over 500 families have joined the winter program since its inception!
If your family is interested in joining the Winter Family Reading Program or if you have questions about the program, come visit us at the Children's Desk at the Fort Dodge Public Library!
