The Fort Dodge Public Library has several online services that are available to our patrons 24 hours a day. E-Reference Books, and Heritage Quest Online require a Fort Dodge Public Library card number. Other listed resources require a free username and password. Automotive Repair Reference Center
The Auto Repair Reference Center contains diagrams, schematics, and step-by-step instructions for the repair of all makes and models of automobiles from 1946 to the present.
 

Byki Online

Byki is a powerful language-learning system that uses flashcards to teach your patrons a set of words or phrases. It is the fastest possible way to lock foreign words and phrases into their long-term memory. Byki has over 80 language options and ESL, international language and cultural resources, pronunciation analysis, personal progress tracking, and much more! Registration for this service must be completed at the library, once registered Byki can be used from any computer with internet access. Dear Reader
Dear Reader - Online book club featuring daily excerpts of fiction and non-fiction books delivered to your email. Subscribers choose from a wide variety of genres including, mystery, romance, horror, young adult, and even recorded books. No usernames, passwords, or library card numbers are required to access this service.
E-Audio Books from NEIBORS by Overdrive
Launched in July 2007, NEIBORS (North Eastern Iowa Bridge to Online Resource Sharing),  provides access to more e-audio books.  Over 700 publishers provide content to NEIBORS giving greater access to current best-sellers. NEIBORS, a consortium of 95 Iowa libraries. Library cardholders may access Overdrive here.
E-Audio Books from Recorded Books
Over 1600 titles are available from Recorded Books and NetLibrary for download to your computer or laptop. Registration for this service is available at the library. For assistance please consult the librarian at the Reference Desk. NetLibrary account holders may search for and access e-audio books here.

EBSCOHost
EBSCO offers web-based information resources, including full-text magazines, journals, encyclopedias, newspapers, graphics, and much more. Databases have been created for children, young adults, and adults. Topics include business, education, health and wellness, and general information. Contact the Library Reference Desk in person, at 515-573-8167 x224, or email us for your free username and password.
 
EBSCO Host - General information from newspapers, magazines, journals, encyclopedias, and reference books. Information is great for general use and for special school or work related projects. Many of the articles are full-text.
 
EBSCO Host Espanol - The same information as EBSCO Host with instructions in Spanish.
 
NoveList Plus- Literary and biographical information on world authors. Book reviews, discussion questions for book clubs, additional titles by the author, and lists of similar titles are included.
 
Auto Repair Reference Center - Diagrams, schematics, and step-by-step instructions for the repair of all makes and models of automobiles from 1946 - 2005.
 
Kids Search - Information for younger students. Information is grouped by categories so that it is easily searchable.
 
EBSCO Host for Children - Information for primary and middle schoolers, including graphics.
 
Student Research Center - Research information for middle and high schoolers. Research materials for all courses are available.
 Heritage Quest Online
Heritage Quest Online - Offers access to Federal Census records, PERSI, Revolutionary War Records, and Freedman's Bank (1865-1874). You must have a Fort Dodge Public Library card to access this database.
Hobbies & Crafts Reference Center
Hobbies & Crafts Reference Center - Offers full text context, detailed "how-to" instructions, and videos for many of the most popular hobbies, crafts, and recreation activites today.  The database provides information on more than 140 subjects sure to please any type of craft and hobby enthusiast.  Contact the Library Reference Desk in person, at 515-573-8167 x 224, or email us for your free username and password
Home Improvement Reference Center
Home Improvement Reference Center - This online tool contains 24 major reference works in full text with more than 10,000 images, nearly 100 videos of popular home repair projects, A-Z browsing tool, and full text of popular home improvement magazines.  Subject areas covered include Electrical Work, Plumbing, Outdoor Improvements, Remodeling, and many more. Small Engine Repair - Information needed to repair All Terrain Vehicles, Generators & Small Engines, Marine/Boat Motors, Motorcycles, Outdoor Power Equipment, Personal Water Craft, Snow Machines/Snow Mobiles and Tractors.
