Blanden Memorial Board of Trustees

The Board meets the second Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at the Blanden.  Seven Members serve 6 year terms and are appointed by the Mayor with approval from the City Council.


The Board oversees hiring of director/employees, personnel matters, follows city pay schedule handles trusts and donations, acquires and owns works of art, cares for them, interprets the, and exhibits them to the public on a regular basis.


Specific Powers and Duties:

  1. To make and enforce policy and regulations for the control, operation, supervision and maintenance of the museum.
  2. To have charge, control, and supervision of the public art museum, its works of art, appurtenances, fixtures, and buildings or rooms containing the same, directing and controlling all of the affairs of such art museum.
  3. To employ a director and such assistants and employees as may be necessary of the management of said art museum and fix the compensation of the personnel consistent with the classification system and pay range policies of the City.
  4. To apply for and accept grant or subsidies from any other unity of government.
  5. To accept gifts or works of art, care for them, and interpret them.
  6. To have control of the expenditures of all monies allocated by the Council.
