Equal Employment Opportunity Committee

The Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Committee represents different departments and various groups protected under the affirmative action plan (i.e., race, color, creed, sex, age, national origin, religion, disability, etc.).  The Committee meets quarterly (every three months) to discuss problems and training options. The EEO Committee will advise the HR/EEO Specialist in the development and dissemination of the EEO/Affirmative Action Plan.

The Committee shall function as an extension of the EEO/AA Office. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
  1. Providing information to employees regarding the City's Affirmative Action Plan.
  2. Monitoring and providing feedback to the EEO/AA Officer regarding affirmative action program progress.
  3. Advising the EEO/AA Officer of situations of concern.
  4. Reviewing policies and practices of the EEO Office that pertain to or have impact upon the affirmative action program and make recommendations for change.
  5. Recommending activities (can be innovative and creative) within the City in consultation with the EEO/AA Officer to provoke interest in, provide information about and commitment to the affirmative action program.
  6. Recommending training needs in the areas of equal opportunity, affirmative action, human relations and etc. to the EEO/AA Officer.
