Starting Tuesday morning, September 23, 2025, at approximately 5:00 a.m., Public Works will close the inside westbound lane and the center turn lane of 5th Avenue South from 25th Street to 23rd Street for the installation of a new 12" water main valve. The outside lane will be partially blocked near the new right-turn lane by Nestlé Purina. Traffic signals at 5th Avenue South and 25th Street will be set to flashing red during the closure.

ALL FLOWERS AND DECORATIONS in city cemeteries will be respectfully removed and discarded during clean off week. This includes:
Saddles, wreaths, floral arrangements (even those in permanent bases)
Weathered American flags
Non-compliant decorations such as ornaments, toys, signs, garden flags and holders
Wind spinners and non-integral vases or statues

If you would like to keep any items, please remove them before Wednesday, October 1, 2025. Starting Tuesday, October 7, 2025, fall and winter decorations will be permitted again. In case you missed it - an update to the Kenyon Road bridge post from Thursday.UPDATE: We are continuing to work with the Iowa DOT on restoration in this area. The surface erosion from the recent storm is not jeopardizing the pier of the bridge or its integrity. The bridge pier foundation is comprised of deep drilled shafts that extend more the 50 feet deep from the surface into bedrock layers.
