Animal Control

This division consists of one Animal Control Officer--a contracted person who responds to animal control issues.

  • Pet owners are required to register their cat or dog at the City Clerk's Office, 819 1st Ave. South, 515-576-4551.
  • All pets must be on a leash when not in an enclosed yard or a fenced in area.
  • Nuisance laws are also in place to curb unreasonable barking and to help promote sanitary pet-keeping. 
  • Pets must be vaccinated for rabies. If your pet bites someone, the bite must be reported to Animal Control at 515-573-2323 or 911 in case of emergency.
