The Development Services Department guides the growth and improvement of Fort Dodge through planning, housing, economic development, and code enforcement. Our mission is to create a vibrant, safe, and sustainable community by fostering responsible development and enhancing the quality of life for residents and businesses.
The department is comprised of four divisions working together to shape the city’s future:
Economic Development Division – Promotes business growth, job creation, and private investment, serving as a resource for local entrepreneurs and developers.
Planning Division – Oversees land use, zoning, and community planning to ensure orderly and balanced development that aligns with the City’s long-term vision.
Community Development Division – Enhances and preserves the City’s housing stock through rehabilitation programs, grants, and partnerships that support residents and neighborhoods.
Code Enforcement Division – Protects public health and safety by ensuring that all construction and property maintenance meet adopted building, mechanical, and plumbing codes.
Together, these divisions provide comprehensive support for residents, property owners, and developers, working to make Fort Dodge a great place to live, work, and invest.
