City of Fort Dodge, Iowa

The City of Fort Dodge is excited to announce the return of JUNK DAYS ON DEMAND, a convenient program designed to help residents dispose of larger items that don’t fit in regular garbage carts. Beginning immediately, Fort Dodge sanitation customers can schedule bulk pick-up on their regular garbage day.

Residents can request a bulk pick-up by texting “JUNK” to (515) 408-9888 and following the prompts. Once confirmation is received, items must be placed at the curb no later than 5:00 am on the designated pick-up day (but no more than 24 hours prior). The collection will start on Monday, May 19, 2025.

Accepted Items:

• Furniture (couch, sectional, chair, recliner, table, etc.)
• Mattresses (limit 2 per pick-up)
• Carpet (under 4 feet, rolled and secured)
• Dismantled swing sets
• Minimal building materials (must be bundled and weigh under 50 pounds per bundle)
• Bicycles, scooters, large toys
• Scrap metal (separate from other items)

Items Accepted for a Fee:

• $5.00 – Passenger car tires
• $15.00 – TVs and electronics
• $15.00 – Appliances (refrigerators, washers, dryers, microwaves, stoves, dishwashers)

Items with fees must be paid for in advance. Stickers are available for purchase at City Hall at the billing windows. The City is not responsible for lost or stolen stickers.
